Argentina
December 2006
A whirlwind vacation that started off on a shaky note and ended with a huge party. On the flight from Panama City to Buenos Aires, our approach was aborted about 50 feet off of the ground, we pulled up and circled around to try again. As we touched down the second run, the runway was lined with fire engines with lights blazing. They followed us into the gate where the firemen were under the aircraft looking up with flashlights. We never did find out what happened. The pilots never said a word, except "Bienvenidos a Buenos Aires" I spent a few days in Buenos Aires before heading to the far north (Salta, Jujuy and the Quebrada Huamahuaca). After that, an overnight bus to Córdoba and to familar faces. My last night in Argentina was a party that lasted until 6am. At least, that's the time we left. There were still about 20 people still there as the sun appeared on the horizon.
