Koip Pass
June 2005
Koip Pass was probably one Andrew's and my best backpacking experiences. We started off in Tuolumne using a trail that would wind up and over the ridge and drop us into the June Lake area 3 days later. It was Silke's first backbacking trip, so we didn't want to make it too hard, although she was more than capable to handle it. We brought along some crampons and ice axes to play around on the ice a little bit. I wrenched my knee the morning of the second day, which made the 1000 foot climb to the top of Koip Pass a bit difficult, but it was a extraordinarily beautiful stretch of trail that more than made up for it.
